Today was a first outdoor rock climbing experience for Tania and Slava. With many days at the indoor gym close to home these two were ready and joined me for a tour of Cathedral Ledge’s fine face and crack climbs. The day was bright and blue with a hot sun baking us on the wall. We decided on linking a few two pitch routes so we could descend into the shade to replenish ourselves with food and water as needed. By days end we had logged in a bunch of mileage on a variety of climbs.
The sun was out so bring in the guns. Strong and fit these two enjoyed each route with the different types of movements and challenges. Here we are on the classic crack climb called Funhouse
Slava 100 feet of the ground in the middle of a sea of granite. He is getting mentally prepared and psyched to climb the steep and blank second pitch on Still in Saigon!!!
The welcome shaded pitch – it is mid afternoon so we moved into high gear. Belaying two ropes at a time known as parallel ropes kept us moving at a quick pace till the end of the day.
Rope handling is a major part of climbing and here Tania and Slava are stacking neat piles of rope as I prepare for the lead of the next rock climb.
Awesome day at Cathedral Ledge. These two rocked it – with four new rock routes and a total of 8 pitches of outdoor rock climbing.
Slava even got a chance to whack the Poke’mon at the base of Bombardment – who new that he would be hanging out waiting for us.
Thank you for this excellent day – so much fun to be on the rocks with you both.
