Once again Terry and I find ourselves in the Red Rock area, a place that continues to truly amaze us. We are here for a two week trip combining AMGA work followed by some free time to explore and seek out new climbs. The rock climbing is our main activity but the beautiful desert landscape, the vastness of the big sky, the mountain running trails all keep us fully engaged from early morning to sunset.
The next photos were taken during the AMGA Rock Guide exam. The three candidates are Micah, Jared, and Yoshiko. Each of these folks worked long days preparing and delivering a fantastic guiding experience on some very high end rock climbs.
Micah guiding us to the top of a route called Our Father. This beautiful cleancut dihedral is liebacked and jambed for over 80 feet.
Very light Black Diamond cams for the future!!!
AMGA rock guide Jared blasting up Triassic Sands. We climbed 4 great pitched here then rappelled back to our packs.
Jared in the hot sun on Slot Machine. He wisely decided to come back to the belay until the route was shaded making the climb much more enjoyable.
A new route for us was La Cierta Edad crack line pictured in the center of photo.
The results of the exam were clear – Micah, Jared, and Yoshiko are now newly certified AMGA Rock Guides. Congratulation to each of them
